- Data entry
- Fundraising activities through auxiliary work
Qualifications
Volunteers and auxiliary members must be at least 18 years of age. U.S. Citizenship is also required. If you are not a citizen, proof is required that you are a legal resident in this country and that you are applying for citizenship. Volunteers are asked to commit to a six-month period of service. A criminal background check is completed on all eligible candidates. A criminal conviction will not automatically disqualify your application; however, active probation status, recent criminal activity or illegal substance use/abuse could be considered disqualifying factors.
How to Apply for a Volunteer Position/Application Process
The application form and process for the VIP Program and Auxiliary members is the same. To access the Riverside County Probation Department VIP Application, click on Volunteer In Probation Personal History Statement. Applications must be thoroughly completed to be considered. Candidates should complete, sign and send the forms to the Riverside County Probation Department email to: [email protected].
The Approval Process
Once your application is submitted, you will be contacted by the Volunteer Coordinator who will confirm receipt of the application. The application will remain active for six months. Once an opening becomes available, all active applications will be reviewed and a candidate selected. Once selected for a position, you will be contacted to schedule an appointment for a background interview and fingerprinting. You will be expected to complete an on-site orientation prior to being accepted as a volunteer. Additionally, the process time varies with each applicant and cannot be completed until all elements of the criminal background check have been received. If you have any questions that are not answered by this webpage, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator at (951) 955-6699.
